ENDORSEMENT • A Heart That Lives Here

Why Cheryl Keddy-Scott Belongs as Mayor of Lincoln

There are people who talk about community. Then there is Cheryl Keddy-Scott — someone who has spent years quietly, stubbornly, and tenderly being community for the rest of us.
I am Cat Dawson. During some of the hardest seasons of my life, when my children were still so young and the weight of rent, hydro, gas, and simply putting food on the table felt crushing, I lived in Grimsby and Beamsville and turned to the Lincoln Community Care food bank. Cheryl was there. So was Joe. They did not treat us like numbers on a list. They treated us like people. Like neighbours. Like family.
Cheryl’s encouragement and kind words landed at exactly the moments I needed them most. She went over and above — not because it was written in a job description, but because it is who she is. On days when everything else was uncertain, she made sure food and dignity were not. That kind of care stays with a person forever. It changes how you see what is possible in a community.
After her time at Community Care, Cheryl founded Village of Hope Niagara. She kept showing up for Lincoln, Vineland, Beamsville, Jordan, Campden, and the surrounding areas — a food bank, a thrift store, real help, and real hope. She and Joe never stopped treating people like they mattered. They still don’t.
Now Cheryl is running for mayor of Lincoln. What a gift that will be to every family here.
As mayor, she will not simply manage a town — she will continue the same work she has always done, only on a bigger stage. She will help clean up the debt that weighs on Lincoln and put our house in better order so the next generation is not left carrying what we could have fixed. More than that, she will make sure every family in this region is taken care of. No one gets left behind. Not the single parent stretching every dollar. Not the senior who is quiet about needing help. Not the family still recovering from hard times. Not the ones who have never asked for anything and the ones who have asked for everything. Under her leadership, people will know they are seen.
Cheryl does not just care about this community. She lives in it. She has walked its struggles and celebrated its strengths. She has already proven that a big heart and steady hands can change lives one person at a time. As mayor, that same heart will serve every resident — because that is simply who she is.
I care deeply about Cheryl and about what she stands for. I am grateful beyond words for the days she made sure my children and I did not have to worry. I am grateful she never made us feel small. I am grateful she built something lasting when so many would have walked away.
Lincoln’s heart and soul already lives in people like Cheryl Keddy-Scott. Electing her mayor would simply let that heart lead from the centre. I believe with everything in me that she will be a mayor who protects, who restores, and who makes sure no family is forgotten.

With deep gratitude and full support, sincerely. Cat Dawson

Transparency

As Mayor, transparency means putting residents first by ensuring they know how and why decisions are made. I will champion open communication, clear reporting on municipal finances, and accountable leadership. I will support public engagement, explain major decisions, and ensure taxpayers have access to the information they need to hold their elected officials accountable. Transparency builds trust, and trust is the foundation of good government.

Cheryl Keddy-Scott Announces Campaign for Mayor: Accountability, Responsible Growth, Community Voices, and Strong Leadership

Lincoln, ON — Cheryl Keddy-Scott is proud to announce her campaign for Mayor of Lincoln, built on four key priorities: Accountability, Responsible Growth, Community Voices, and Strong Leadership.

“As our community continues to grow, residents deserve a Mayor who listens, leads, and delivers results,” said Cheryl Keddy-Scott. “I am committed to transparent decision-making, fiscal responsibility, and ensuring the voices of our residents help shape the future of Lincoln.”

I am running for Mayor because I believe Lincoln deserves strong, accountable leadership that listens to residents and plans responsibly for the future. Our community is growing, and with that growth comes both opportunities and challenges. I want to ensure that decisions are made with transparency, taxpayer dollars are managed responsibly, and the voices of residents remain at the centre of every decision. With years of experience in governance, policy development, community service, and advocacy, I am committed to bringing people together, building trust, and working collaboratively with all levels of government to secure the resources and opportunities Lincoln needs to thrive. My goal is simple: to protect what makes Lincoln special while building a strong, sustainable future for generations to come.

“Leadership is about listening, making informed decisions, and standing up for our community,” said Cheryl Keddy-Scott. “I will be a strong voice for Lincoln, focused on building a prosperous and sustainable future for all residents.”
